HONOR FLIGHT POSITION STATEMENT: USE OF HF EVENTS OR RESOURCES BY PUBLIC OFFICIALS OR CANDIDATES
Honor Flight of Southern New Mexico and El Paso transports America's World War II, Korean and Vietnam War Veterans to Washington DC to visit the memorials built to honor the service and sacrifice of those who served. This trip of a lifetime provides closure, healing, and the welcome home these heroes deserve. This organization is an apolitical, 501(c)(3) organization.
Under the Internal Revenue Code, all 501(c)(3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office. We believe that this includes giving those in public office a special seat or opportunity to speak formally to our Veterans while on a Flight or during other Honor Flight events. We respectfully ask that individuals seeking or holding public office refrain from using images in marketing or campaign materials which may imply this organization’s endorsement. We welcome all members of the community - including those in public office - to do their part in contributing to our efforts in whatever manner they are led - as donors, volunteers, and supporters. Out of respect for our Veterans, we cannot provide a forum for those in or seeking public office - including their supporters or representatives - to use Honor Flight events or resources to promote what could be perceived as a personal or political agenda.
